Loculus Design is an Athens-based design practice founded on the ideas that architecture can serve as a bridge between nature, culture and people.
The mission of Loculus Design team is to create inspiring environments which have a positive effect on people's lives.
Sunlight, sounds, odours, views, night sky and the limits among them are in the core of firm's philosophy.
The Loculus is a dissection game invented by Archimedes, which consists of fourteen specific and solid polygonal shapes that fit together to make a square. These pieces can be rearranged to make pictures of people, animals and objects or reassembled into their original form.
In a sense, architecture is like the Loculus game. The built environment that surrounds every single aspect of our lives is produced by three basic articulated "shapes"; the volume, the surface and the reticulation. It is extraordinary inspiring and influential that our world's pluralism comes from the smart composition of only three "shapes" in terms of forms and typologies. So complicated and so simple at the same time.
The knowledge of the rules that this game is performed is a fundamental principal for our firm.
